“I’m late! I’m late! For a very important date! No time to say hello goodbye, I’m late, I’m late, I’m late!” says the White Rabbit in Alice in Wonderland.
We have all been in that situation where we needed more time. Let me tell you a story.
A man divided his wealth into three equal portions and gave it away to his three sons. The first son squandered it away by gambling. The second son bought everything he needed to lead a comfortable life. The third son invested his money so that he would reap the returns for the longest time. They all had the same amount of money but chose different paths.
My point is – one thing is common and final in our lives. You can be a CEO, a home maker, a student or a barista. You can be 5,10, 50 years old. You can be from Ethiopia, UK, India or Scandinavia. We all have 24 hours, and we are masters of our time.
By setting boundaries and prioritizing our time, we can live a rich balanced life. No time to work out? No problem, wake up early. But, I need the 8 hours you say, ok, then go to bed early. Hmm, then who responds to those work emails, you ask? No one, I would say. The urgency to respond to that text or work email is because you decide it is urgent, what would happen if you told Mr. Boss man that you were having dinner with your family or watching the moonlit sky, hence slacked off a bit. Would you get fired? I think not. If you did, then that job was not the right one, I would argue 🙂 Set boundaries and do not let other parts of your life bleed into the next.
Yes, I always knew I would make a good lawyer 🙂
